Meet Our Staff:
Dr. Sammy Pelletier, OD
Hailing from Fort Kent, Maine, Dr. Pelletier was number eight of ten children. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine Orono and his doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He had the privilege of serving as a Captain in the United States Army from 1984-1988 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. While there, he served as an Optometrist and as an Army Distance Runner, competing both nationally and internationally. He won the Philadelphia Marathon in a time of 2:15 setting a Maine record that still holds today. He also competed in the Olympic Trials Marathon.
Upon his return to Maine, he practiced in Biddeford and Portland. In 1996, purchased York Family Eyecare where he has enjoyed serving York and the surrounding communities as a solo practitioner. He is very family oriented, and many patients remember when his Saturday staff included his four children.
Dr. Pelletier is an active member of both the American and Maine Optometric Association. He is on staff at York Hospital and works hand-in-hand with Ophthalmologists in both Maine and New Hampshire.
Susan Pelletier - Administrative Assistant
Having spent 19 years homeschooling their four children, Susan a registered nurse, has rejoined the medical community as an administrative assistant to her husband, Dr. Pelletier and the fine staff of YFEC. It is her pleasure to assist in making York Family Eyecare a one of a kind full-scope eye care facility where each patient is treated as “family".
Janet - Office Manager & Insurance Coordinator
A familiar face to most of our patients, Janet is the backbone of our day-to-day operations. She is always amazing us with her ability to remember patients and their individual needs. Janet also acts as our Insurance Coordinator, contacting insurance companies about patient claims and billing. In addition to handing her other duties, Janet can also be seen doing screenings and adjusting glasses. 
Malin - Optician
Our certified Optician and a Swedish native, Malin, makes the vast majority of our eyeglasses in our in-house lab. She works diligently to keep up-to-date with current lens technology. She selects quality frames, which is evident by our wide selection of over 1500 frames. She was also instrumental in expanding our sunglass collection.
Beth - Technician
Beth works as Dr. Pelletier's technician doing pre-screenings, dilations, and visual fields, freeing up Dr. Pelletier to spend more time with each patient during their examinations. Beth has also been instrumental toward achieving our goal of becoming a “paperless” office.
Trish - Receptionist
Our chief receptionist, Trish, is the third generation of her family to work in the optical field. She is a certified Optometric assistant, and she is always kind and thoughtful with both the patients and staff. Trish also works as a part of our marketing team, managing our Facebook account and helping with our publications.
Linda - Optical Associate
Linda puts her knack for fashion and design to good use in our optical boutique where she graciously assists our patients in frame and lens selection. Linda is responsible for our Customer Satisfaction Department, insuring that each patient is adapting well to their new glasses.
Jen -Bookkeeper
Jen is responsible for all office bookkeeping. In addition to her bookkeeping responsibilities, she helps out with patient reception and is studying to work in our exam area performing prescreenings, dilations, and visual fields.
Jessica - Marketing Director
Our marketing director, Jessica, is the face behind our patient recall system, making sure our established patients and their families receive the American Optometric Association’s recommended care. Jessica is responsible for all publications, including advertising, patient newsletters, our website, and promotional materials.
